via Art Partner, 2-years collaboration with a company, Amsterdam, NL, 2006-2008
Between 2006 and 2008 we had regular gatherings with the company staff, going through presentations/brain storming sessions, bringing in glimpses of elsewhere. Out of this I developped different works, some in the studio, some on the location in the middle of an office working day.
Road Poem uses the travelling potential brought in by very mobile workers and gives the impulse to find poetry all around ourselves while on our ways to the next thing to do. Using stencils, letters are stamped on glass walls running throught the whole office space, growing sentences little by little, writing loose ligns, drawing airy tree branches or awkard mapping systems by the means of words. These immediately start to relate to their environment while the whole poem draws an image breaking through the squareness of the initial space. Later on an office-mapping system got implemented into the space and into the poem.
Adrift proposes a mental solution for the newly adopted 'flex-working' condition in the company. It is hung around a pillar in a central open space.
Crossroads hangs on a wall, reminding the passer-by of particular combinations of discussions come across.
The Map for the computer screen stresses the working rooms' borders, while all the passing spaces become sea, linking the inside to the outside, leading the office rooms to become islands.
Reset Toolbox starts off from different visions of the body throughout the world, piles them up and keeps them bundled together, linking systems, connecting thoughts.
